Hiram AYAMEL

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Hiram Ayamel trained in theatre and film in France at EICAR and GFCA, where he developed his skills as an actor, screenwriter, and director.

At EICAR, he wrote and directed the 2013 student short “Isn’t It a Bit Early?”, which won the Best Actress Award.

At GFCA, he directed the first-year students’ showcase with an adaptation of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.

In 2016, he staged “Between Today and Tomorrow,” an original musical by Sam Khoury, presented at the Babel Theatre in Beirut, Lebanon.

Back in Côte d’Ivoire in 2017, he founded acting workshops and worked as an artistic director and acting coach on film sets.

He directed “Chic Y’a Go” by Johanna Fakhry—an Ivorian reimagining of the musical Chicago—then, in 2019, performed the role of Thomas in David Ives’s Venus in Fur at the Institut Français d’Abidjan.

Alongside this, Hiram writes for film and television and has signed several award-winning works, including:

  • Les Coups de la Vie — Season 1 (10 episodes, A+)

  • Mea Culpa — Seasons 1 & 2 (17 episodes, TV5 Monde; CINEF 2022 Audience Award)

  • Eki — Season 1 (10 episodes, Canal+; NISA 2023 nominations for Best Screenplay and Best Series)

  • Résolution — feature film (ECOWAS & FESPACO 2019 Awards)

  • GLA — feature film (NISA d’Or 2024 nomination for Best Original Screenplay)

  • Sacrifice — feature film (NISA 2025 Award for Best Original Screenplay)

Now back in Paris, Hiram is preparing his next short film, “When Everyone Sleeps,” and developing the second chapter of GLA, slated for production in 2026.

He is trilingual: French, English, and Arabic.
