The Beninese-born filmmaker Sylvestre Amoussou has been living in France for forty years.

In 2017, Sylvestre Amoussou won the second prize at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO). His film "African Storm, A Continent Under Influence" earned the Silver Stallion of Yennenga. This marked the first time a Beninese filmmaker achieved such a distinction in the awards of a film competition.
